Tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women, the Prenatal Massage is a deeply soothing therapy that works to improve circulation, reduce swelling in hands and feet, and release tension in the lower back, neck, and shoulders. Side-lying Swedish is the recommended prenatal massage method because it addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts. Periodic massages help pregnant women minimize the physical and emotional discomforts of pregnancy and childbirth.
As the name suggests, Deep Tissue massage focuses on realigning muscle groups and targets specific muscle tissue to relieve tension, stress and chronic muscle problems. Ideal for people with chronic muscle stress or injury. This type of massage applies slow, long strokes to specific areas of tension and pain. Highly recommended for those with chronic stiff necks, back tightness or shoulder pains.
Shiatsu, which means “finger pressure,” stimulates points along the body’s meridians, aiming to restore balance and alignment. This ancient therapy encourages the proper flow of Qi, or life energy, which in turn improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress. This therapy is considered holistic because it attempts to treat the whole person instead of a specific medical complaint.
Swedish massage soothes the entire body. It is a full body massage which uses gentle but firm pressure and is applied using kneading, long strokes, stretching, and tapping to relax muscles, release toxins, and promote circulation. Feel free to ask your therapist for a lighter or firmer touch.
Sports massage is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. It combines massage techniques with stretching to target specific muscle tensions, increase range of motion, promote flexibility and shorten recovery time. The technique is highly involved and complex, and is designed for athletes in particular—consult with our professional massage therapists to determine your particular needs.
